Crescent Lake, located in the north of Mingsha Mountain in Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, China, is named for its shape like a curved moon. The Crescent Lake Scenic Area in Mingsha Mountain was approved by the Chinese Government as AAAAA-class tourist attraction in 2015.

Crescent Lake water quality is sweet, clear as a mirror, throughout the ages, sand does not enter the spring, water is not turbid, the moon spring is clear is one of the eight sceneries of Dunhuang. Crescent Lake is nearly 100 meters long in North and south, about 25 meters wide in East and west, deep in East and shallow in west, and about 5 meters deep in the deepest part. It is called "the first spring of desert". The crescent lake is surrounded by drifting sand, and the spring is not covered by sand in the strong wind. Mingsha Mountain, which corresponds to Crescent Moon Spring, is called a pair of twin sisters in desert Gobi and echoes each other.
