Xiao Hinggan Mountains

Xiao Hinggan Mountains are located in the north-central part of Heilongjiang Province, China. They are located in the north latitude of 46 28'- 49 21', and the east longitude of 127 42'- 130 14'. The north is bounded by the central route of Heilongjiang and across the river from Russia. The border line is 249.5 kilometers long. It is an important gateway to the northeastern border of China. There are many platforms and wide valleys in the north of Xiao Hinggan Mountains,the hills in the middle are low and gentle; the mountains in the south are low and steep. The highest peak is Pingdingshan, 1429 meters above sea level.

Xiao Hinggan Mountains is a key timber forest base in China. The forest area covers 12.26 million hectares, of which more than 5 million hectares are forested, and the volume of trees is about 450 million cubic meters. The primitive forest in Xiao Hinggan Mountains has been developed into a primitive forest park, and the largest area of which is located in the Mother Tree Reserve of Pinus koraiensis in Wuying District. Riyuexia is a part of Xiaoxing'an Mountains. The number of plant species is second only to that of Yunnan's tropical rainforest. Forest parks have developed scenic spots such as the Eighteen Turns Scenic Line, Tenglong Mountain Primitive Forest Park, Luyeyuan Park, Toulong Villa, rafting, colour ball fighting, water park and so on.

The pollution-free primitive forest is rich in animal and plant resources: black bear, wild boar, deer, roe, badger, fox, flying dragon, pheasant, forest frog and all kinds of fish, Korean pine, larch, grape, kiwifruit, mushroom, agaric, birch, ginseng, Acanthopanax senticosus, Schisandra chinensis, Astragalus and so on.
