Yellow Crane Tower, located on the Snake Mountain beside the Yangtze River in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, has the reputation of "the first floor in the world". Yellow Crane Tower, Yueyang Tower and Tengwang Pavilion are also known as the three famous buildings in the south of the Yangtze River.
The Yellow Crane Tower
Yellow Crane Tower is situated on the top of Snake Mountain, 61.7 meters above sea level. It is five stories high, with a total height of 51.4 meters and a building area of 3219 square meters. The Yellow Crane Tower is supported by 72 cylinders, with 60 warping angles extending outward. The roof is covered with more than 100,000 yellow glazed tiles. The whole building of Yellow Crane Tower has a unique national style, which radiates the spirit, temperament and charm of Chinese traditional culture. It intersects with the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge at the foot of Snake Mountain, and has a panoramic view of the three towns of Wuhan.
The Yellow Crane Tower was built in the Three Kingdoms Period, and was destroyed and rebuilt repeatedly in later generations. In the Ming and Qing dynasties alone, they were destroyed seven times and rebuilt and repaired ten times, because of the saying that "Guoyunchang is the prosperity of Lou Yunsheng". In 1884, the Yellow Crane Tower was destroyed by a fire. By 1985, the newly built Yellow Crane Tower stood beside the Yangtze River. Four mythological stories about the Yellow Crane Tower are circulated among the Chinese people. Many poets have written wonderful poems to praise it. It can be seen that the Yellow Crane Tower is not only a bearing of history, but also a reflection of culture.
