Shandong University was founded in 1901 (the 27th year of Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty), formerly known as Shandong High-Level University, and later renamed National Qingdao University and Shandong University. Now Shandong University is composed of the former Shandong University, Shandong Medical University and Shandong University of technology. It has cultivated more than 400000 talents and made important contributions to China's economic and social development.
Shandong University is located in da'nan Road, Jinan City, Shandong Province, with a total area of 8000 mu. There are 4 affiliated hospitals, 3 non affiliated hospitals, 11 teaching and practice hospitals. The school has gathered a group of outstanding talents, including Peter Grünberg, the Nobel Prize winner in physics, who was appointed as a distinguished professor, and Professor Mo Yan, the Postgraduate Tutor, who won the 2012 Nobel Prize in literature. Shandong University is one of the most comprehensive universities in China, and it is a representative University.
