Chinese Zodiac

In ancient China, there was a method of the twelve-digit chronology, which was represented by the twelve Branches of the earth.they are Zi,Chou,Yin,Mao,Chen,Si,Wu,Wei,Shen,You,Xu,Hai. In 12 years of reincarnation, the ancients expressed the twelve Branches of the earth with twelve animals, such as mice, ugly cows and so on. People born in that year had corresponding life phases, namely, the twelve zodiac signs, also known as the twelve genera facies. The cycle of  Chinese zodiac is roughly the same as that of Jupiter.

The origin of the twelve zodiac is very early. Twelve animals with trunks and branches have appeared in the “Shihudi Qin Jian” and “Fangma Qin Jian” in the late Warring States Period. The same as now is "Lun Heng" by Wang Chong of the Eastern Han Dynasty. "Lun Heng Volume" 3, "Wu Shi".

Origin

Legend has it that one year, the Jade Emperor celebrated his birthday, ordered all animals to come to celebrate their birthday on the ninth day of the first lunar month, and decided to choose twelve kinds of animals in the order in which they came to celebrate their birthdays, as guards of the road to heaven, and on duty in turn.According to legend, rats and cats were neighbors at the time, but usually large cats often bullied weak mice. Rats were often only angry and afraid of words. The cat loves to sleep late, and after receiving the order from the Jade Emperor, the mouse is happy: the chance of revenge for the cat is finally here.Sure enough, the cat knocked at the door of the mouse's house and asked the mouse to wake up him and go with him when he wished the Jade Emperor his birthday. The mouse agreed with him. In retaliation for the cat, in the early The mouse got up very early and ran very fast, he was worried when he came to the wide river and faced the water of the waves. He had to sit by the river And wait for other animals to cross the river. He jumped on their backs and used their strength to cross the river. After waiting for a long time, the earliest ox went to the river silently step by step. The mouse jumped into the ear of the ox while the ox swam in the water. The ox were usually known for their simplicity and helpfulness, so it did not care about the speculative behavior of the mice. Crossing the river, the mice felt comfortable lying in the ears of the ox , but it did not mean to jump down. Near afternoon, the ox carried the mice outside the door of the Jade Emperor. When the ox was about to enter the door, who knows that the mice rushed out of the ears of the ox and jumped in front of the Jade Emperor, so the mice finally won the first prize. The ox that carried it all the way won only the second place. Later tigers, rabbits, dragons, snakes, horses, goats, monkeys, roosters and dogs also arrived.although pigs are stupid, they arrived on time, ranking twelfth. The Jade Emperor bestowed them on annual rotations according to the order in which they were reported. The order of the twelve Zodiacs was thus determined.
