Liao Dynasty (916-1125 A.D.), a dynasty founded by the Qidans in northern China, is one of the representatives of the dynasties of ethnic minorities in China. The founding emperor of Liao Dynasty was Yelv Abaoji in 947 A.D. The Liao army attacked and occupied Kaifeng in Song Dynasty and changed its name to Daliao. Liao was destroyed by Jin State in 1125. After the collapse of Liao Dynasty, Yelv Dashi moved westward to Chu River Basin in Central Asia to establish the Western Liao Dynasty, which was destroyed by Mongolian Khanate in 1218.
